It’s Boxing Day evening and I am curled up on a sofa in front of the fire, happily cosy. Outside it’s dark and the snow is falling softly.

We are in the house, family has arrived for Christmas, and our home is full. Dogs, cats, stepsons, girlfriends – it’s a happy sort of chaos.
We hosted a Christmas Eve supper with good friends a few days ago and then a Christmas dinner yesterday. Today we’ve had other local friends around for a Boxing Day dinner.

We are both exhausted, to be honest. I’m looking forward to slowing right down now that our entertaining is over. Much as it’s lovely to be with friends at Christmas, we’re both worn out and need to recharge.

Sitting looking out at the ever changing view listening to the crackling of the Woodburner is an excellent way to do that in my book. Even with the most basic of furniture and no boxes as yet unpacked.

Wishing you all peace and contentment over this festive break.

You 2 are amazing! How you have coped with all that entertaining when the house is still unfinished and so much stuff still in boxes I do not know! I hope you manage to take some time off to enjoy the fire and the views and the warmth of a proper roof over your heads before doing any more work on the house.

As soon as the kids are back to Manchester and we’ve cleared up we’ll slump and do nothing for a week!

So good to hear! Idyllic, and that view….
Log burners win every time.
Best wishes for the recharge time…..and a good book.

How’s your Christmas been?

It was good thanks! A sunny day with 27 degrees which challenged xmas jumpers a little. We ate out as the cost is so low here. Driving through olive groves and almond orchards plus the receding vines is a thing of beauty. There will be bitter weather to come with driving rain no doubt, it is very seasonal. We roll with it and picked olives this year in return for 15 litres of virgin olive oil from Culebron. That should last 2 years! We don’t even fry things! The orange tree has gone into overdrive so marmalade and all things orange is / are on the cards. Last year we had a neighbour over and next year we will keep it informally for ourselves. No xmas tree up as the newer additions to the entourage being 6 month old cats (now) would have created devastation. Tempted witha tree hanging from the ceiling. The fiestas continue until 6th Jan, the 3 Kings Day. Cruel but the children cannot open their presents until then.
Stay well. Love reading your blog and seeing that view!
