Electrickery arrives

Today was a big milestone.

We have electrickery!

At least in places. Upstairs, both bedrooms, landing, stairs and the bathroom, and downstairs in the kitchen.

I spent several minutes flicking the switch on the bedside lights on and off like a five year old. And grinning excitedly.

I felt quite emotional.

Tiny upstairs bathroom, with lights!

Husband connected zones to the distribution board and switched on and suddenly we had light. And power to the ovens, hob, fridge and freezer.

Just like magic.

I did my happy dance.

Modern appliances with lights – integrated freezer

I’m quite beyond myself. Things that I’d previously taken for granted suddenly seem so important, and special.

We have a long way to go. But today felt like a big step forward to being in very soon. One bathroom with working toilet and shower and we’re there. It actually feels possible that we will be in before Christmas.

Happy tears. Thank you Hugh. You’re making it happen.

  1. Oh I do hope that you are able to have Christmas in your home that between you, you have worked together towards for so long. It has certainly been a voyage, with many different emotions along the way.

    Good luck.

    1. We will be in before Christmas, definitely. The basics will be in, no more, so we will continue to finish it whilst at least enjoying the warmth and comfort of the house in its unfinished state 👍❤️

  2. Your thinking that the orange and poppy seed cake would be the last in the caravan oven was right! Even if you have to mix things on a camping table you can start to use the new kitchen! What a triumph! Well done both of you.

  3. It is important to keep that thankfulness, the pure joy you feel when you achieve one of those small luxuries (like light). We deliberately live without them for long periods of time so we can feel thankful to get them back (it’s called camping here in Australia).
