The two Dereks are plasterboarding for all they’re worth, and we are starting to have rooms emerge from the chaos.

Husband has been working long hours to keep pace with the wiring and plumbing. The house is full of strange ducts and metalwork, like something from an industrial post-apocalyptic novel. It’s all slowly taking shape.

It’s strange how a bit of plasterboard changes the aspect of rooms. When we had open studs for walls and you could see through them to the next room, it was difficult to get a real sense of the solidity and space. Now the rooms have opaque, solid boundaries, giving them a feeling of volume. Makes it much easier to visualise fittings and furniture.

As I write I’m sitting in the caravan in a burst of unexpected sunshine. It’s streaming through the windows infusing a bunch of gifted, slightly overblown tulips with an warm orange glow.
Spring is coming. Each morning it’s lighter a little earlier.
It’s coming.

This is so exciting. Soon you’ll be there and the thought that spring is on the way has to be a spirit lifter. Today I have the windows open for the first time in ages and you can feel Spring in the air!!!

I know that there’s more winter to come, but a sunny day really helps!

Hurray for progress. I know what you mean about walls changing the sense of space and making it easier to visualise how furniture will fit. It must feel like a giant leap forward.

Our vision does have a huge impact on our perception, it makes me wonder how people with vision impairment visualise a space. Spring is coming for you, and Autumn is coming for us. I love this time of year.

You guys still going down the air source heat pump route. Electricity tariffs are scary at the moment.

They are scary. But with the levels of insulation that we have in the house we think that this is still the best alternative. We’ll supplement with wind or solar later. We think.

I’m looking into wind, but haven’t found anything small enough to ‘blend’ into our environment while still generating some power. Let us know if hi7 come across anything interesting.

Will do. We were looking at the small vertical blade units which are about 1m tall, but upon further digging they aren’t quite there yet. Will keep you posted 👍❤️
