It’s that time of year again. I’ve made homemade Atholl Brose.
A wee glass of this in the evening to warm us up is a necessity, I think.

Whisky, honey, oats and cream. Lasts for a week in the fridge – if you can make it last that long 😊.
Recipe here for anyone that fancies giving it a go. Note I only use a half bottle of whisky, just a blended one too, and it’s delicious.

That sounds like a lovely recipe. I think I will try it next Winter. My chooks will appreciate the whiskey soaked oats I think. Did you use athe required silver spoon to stir it all up?

Sadly I didn’t have the required silver spoon so it just got a stir with a wooden one. 🙂

Rather than waste them, I often use the whisky soaked oats for cranachan, a dessert made with oats, raspberries and cream. Loving the idea of the chickens getting them though … Wouldn’t it make them a bit wobbly on their pins? 😊

It would indeed. It isn’t good for them at all, but they do like to eat fermented food and get a bit tipsy.
